Go for the green

So here is post numero dos. It's a rather drab day here in Montreal. It's gloomy, it's dark; basically it is the perfect weather for staying inside. So naturally, what do I do when all I want is to shake off that terrible lazy feeling? I look out the window to try and find, even a glimpse of what makes a gloomy day beautiful. Sitting here in front of my laptop, I look out the window and see nothing but green. I live on a street lined with beautiful maple trees. I always found them beautiful, but like many things in life, to most jaded adults, these trees became nothing but a nuisance. There is a lot of up keeping when living on a street where every household has at least one beautiful, majestic tree. In the winter, no one complains because the trees are leafless and look rather lifeless, if you ask me. In the spring, they become a headache, because the "helicopters", as we call them, (i.e. the fruit of the tree) fall at an alarming rate. Spiraling down, they cover entire properties. In the summer, they are rather tame and do not cause any manual labour for the owners of the homes, but do not let me get started on the fall. The leaves that turn beautiful, red, orange and auburn colours, are nothing but a fiery coloured burden for most Montrealers. But today, on this gloomy Friday morning, I am thankful to see the maple trees. After all, they are the only thing adding some colour to their gray, drab environment. That is why, I am suggesting that everyone go green. Not in that cliche, money making trap of environmentally "friendly" goodness, but in the true sense. Learn to appreciate the green in your life, because it is a sign that there is still life on earth and that humans have not entirely destroyed everything in their path.
Stay curious,
Emanuella
